Author's pov:-
The roaring flames consumed the house, the suffocating heat making every breath a battle for survival.
Admist of the fire, Rajveer's body trembled as he stirred, coughing violently, his breaths came in shallow gasps. His body screamed in pain with every body movement -his back lodged with shards of glass, his muscles burning from exhaustion.
His chest heaved weakly as he coughed, a trickle of blood staining his lips. He struggled to open his stinging eyes, after few seconds he opened his eyes and his eyes scanning his surroundings but but his gaze locked on Abhira who was laying lifeless beside him . Her head rested against the floor, bleeding, her fragile frame still and lifeless.
Rajveer's heart raced in panic. "Abhira!" he croaked, his voice barely audible over the crackling fire. Weakly, his trembling hand reached out to her face, cradling her cheek.
"Ah...abhira wake up , wake up ,cupcake", rajveer begged, his voice hoarse, cupping her face .
Summoning every ounce of strength left in his battered body, Rajveer forced himself to sit up. His back screamed in agony as the lodged glass shifted with his movements, but he ignored the pain.
He pulled Abhira's lifeless form into his lap, cradling her head against his chest as if shielding her from the world.
With trembling hands, he cradled her face, his tears spilling freely and landing on her cheeks.
"Abhira... Abhira, ankhe kholo( open your eyes)" he whispered, his voice choked with despair. Her stillness sent a wave of dread crashing through him. "No... no, I won't let Kiaan to grow up without us ... he can't lose us. I won't let him grow up alone."
Rajveer's trembling fingers brushed a lock of hair from her face. He leaned down, his forehead pressing against hers. " Stay with me, cupcake. Please," he begged, his voice breaking.
With a deep breath, he surveyed the raging fire surrounding them. Flames licked at the walls, trapping them in a deadly inferno.
Determination flared in his eyes as he shrugged off his blazer, gritting his teeth against the pain as the movement pulled at the glass embedded in his back.
His burns were exposed, raw and angry, but he ignored them. Wrapping the blazer carefully around Abhira shielding her from the heat.
With a guttural roar, Rajveer summoned every ounce of strength and lifted Abhira into his arms. Her head lolled against his chest, and he cradled it protectively, whispering a silent promise to her, "You'll be safe. I'll get us out of here."
"Ahhhhhh!",With a roar of effort, Rajveer lifted Abhira into his arms. Her head lolled against his chest, and he tightened his hold, cradling her protectively.
His steps were slow and staggering, his body protesting every movement, but his determination was unyielding. He was willing to walk through fire itself if it meant saving her.
As he approached the door, the flames seemed insurmountable, a barrier of death standing between them and freedom. Rajveer took a deep breath, muttered a prayer under his breath, and closed his eyes. "For Abhira, Kiaan... I'll face anything," he whispered.
Clenching his jaw, Rajveer closed his eyes, prepared to run straight through the inferno. He stepped forward, preparing to endure the pain of the fire-but just as hid foot lifted, a sudden powerful jet of water burst through, extinguishing the fire at the entrance in a cloud of steam
The hiss of extinguished flames was deafening, and the fire near the door receded just enough to create a path. Rajveer didn't stop to question it. Gritting his teeth, he staggered through the opening, clutching Abhira tightly.
With Abhira securely in his arms, he stumbled through the door and into the open air, his knees buckling as he collapsed onto the ground outside. The sudden rush of fresh air burned his lungs, but he clung to consciousness, clutching Abhira protectively against him.
Firefighters and bodyguards surrounded them, their expressions frozen in shock at the sight of Rajveer's battered body and Abhira's unconscious form. Aryan and Rudransh pushed through the crowd, their faces etched with horror.
Outside, chaos erupted. Firefighters shouted instructions, bodyguards rushed forward, and Aryan and Rudransh stood frozen in shock at the sight of Rajveer emerging from the inferno.
His body was battered, his back a horrifying patchwork of burns and blood, but he held Abhira in his arms
"Raajveer!(Not a spelling mistake)", Aryan shouted . Aryan and Rudransh pushed through the crowd, their faces etched with horror.
Rajveer took a few steps before his legs gave out, and he collapsed onto the cold, hard ground. Abhira remained cradled in his arms, her head resting against his chest. "Help her..." he rasped, his voice barely audible. Tears streamed down his soot-streaked face as his bodyguards and Aryan rushed to his side.
Aryan knelt beside him, his face a mix of fury and heartbreak. "Nanna , rajveer lera , nanna leraa" he begged his voice trembling , gently shaking rajveer's face ,tears streaming down his cheeks
[Father , please get up ]
(in Telugu the correct nanna meaning is father, and it's like a nickname and mostly we calls this while pampering our children too
we call nanna to whom we like the most too like in novels in hindi fictional men calls bachaa to their wifes )
But rajveer was lossing his concious
"Bhai get up yaar", rudransh pleaded,
Then manish and Swarna entered
Swarna knelt beside rajveer and Abhira and she cradled abhira's head on her lap
"Abhira beta get up , open your eyes ", Swarna sobbed
Manish started to rub Abhira hand
"Abhira beta get up, nothing will happens to you ", he said , rubbing her hands
Aryan was trying to not to let rajveer lose his consciousness
"Rajveer beta, don't close your eyes, please don't", he begged m cupping rajveer's face
Meanwhile rajveer was lossing his consciousness and he winced, his body arching.
"Argh", he weakly winced and Aryan was tensed and he looked at his own hand which was slick with Rajveer's blood and Aryan checked rajveer's back, which was burnt and some shattered pieces of glasses lodges.
"Rudra give ,e your jacket", Aryan hurriedly said to rudransh and he grabbed Rudra's jacket and pressed it on rajveer's wounds, but it's contact made rajveer to cry in pain
"Noo! Arhhhh", rajveer cried
And Swarna's saree was also covered in Abhira blood and then she realised that Abhira had a head injury and she quickly tored a piece of cloth from his saree and placed it on abhira head
"S..sir , abh-abhira ..", rajveer murmured , pointing towards abhira, he couldn't even breath properly and every word was difficult to him
"S-save.. her.. b-blood" rajveer choked and closed his eyes, with that Rajveer's strength gave out, his head falling back as he succumbed to exhaustion,
"No no no rajveer open your eyes", Aryan barked in fear of losing his son , shaking rajveer
"Bhai please don't do this to us ", rudransh cried but quickly wiped his tears
For those who knows Hindi:-:
"Abey Ghadhe(donkey), kitni baar hospitalize hoga ", rudransh shouted but it was a to make rajveer to wake up
In telugu:-
"Arey dunna(buffalo )enni sarlani hospitalize avutavura ", rudransh shouted but it was a to make rajveer to wake up
(How many times will you get hospitalize)
And just then rudransh phone was buzzed and he took out and saw the preeta name in caller id
Meanwhile, Rudransh phone buzzed in his pocket, and he fumbled to pull it out. It was Preeta. With shaking hands, he answered the call.
"Rudransh!" Preeta's voice was sharp, filled with worry. "What happened? Are Rajveer and Abhira okay?"her voice trembling in tension, sweat dapped on her forehead
Rudransh opened his mouth to reply, but his voice failed him. He swallowed hard, his throat dry and his eyes fixed on the unconscious figures.
"Rudransh!" Preeta's voice grew firmer, demanding an answer. "Tell me right now, what's going on?"
Her question was like a dagger to Rudra's heart, how can he say to his mother that her another son and daughter-in-law are badly injured
Preeta's heart was racing due to Rudra's silence
Taking a deep breath, Rudransh finally spoke, his voice trembling. "Rajveer... and Abhira... they were trapped in the fire," he said hoarsely. "They're unconscious now."
The words hit Preeta like a thunderbolt. The phone slipped from her hands, and she collapsed onto a chair, her heart pounding. "No... this can't be..." she whispered, her mind racing with fear and grief.
As the ambulance arrived, chaos ensued. Paramedics rushed out with stretchers, and Aliya appeared, her face pale and streaked with tears. She ran to Rajveer and Abhira, her hands shaking as she touched Rajveer's face. "Bhai , bhabhi, please... don't leave us," she whispered, her voice cracking.
The paramedics worked quickly, placing oxygen masks on Rajveer and Abhira as they were loaded into the ambulance. Aryan, Rudransh, and Aliya climbed in, their faces etched with despair. The ambulance doors closed with a loud thud, and the vehicle sped towards the hospital, its siren piercing through the night.
The ambulance screeched to a halt at Rajveer's own hospital, the doors flung open, and paramedics rushed Rajveer and Abhira inside on stretchers. The hospital staff, already alerted by Rudransh, had assembled the best specialists, and a flurry of medical personnel surrounded them.
"Vitals are unstable!" one doctor called out, checking Rajveer's monitors.
"Severe smoke inhalation, burns on the back, and glass fragments embedded in his body. Prep for surgery immediately!" another instructed as they wheeled Rajveer down the corridor.
On the other stretcher, Abhira's condition was equally dire. "Severe burns on arms and legs, smoke inhalation causing respiratory distress, and a head injury and possible internal injuries from the fall," a nurse reported while placing an oxygen mask over Abhira's face.
They've inhaled a significant amount of smoke-prepare for intubation. Alert pulmonology for respiratory treatment. We need to stabilize them first before proceeding to surgery."
Two teams of nurses wheeled Rajveer and Abhira into adjoining operating rooms. Before disappearing behind the swinging doors, Aryan gripped Dr. Sinha's arm. His voice broke as he pleaded, "Save my son and daughter... save both of them. Do whatever it takes", he begged, joining his both hands infront of doctor
Dr. Mehra nodded grimly. "sir , We'll do everything we can."
Inside Rajveer's operating room, a team of surgeons worked tirelessly. His vitals were unstable, his oxygen levels dangerously low. An anesthesiologist inserted an endotracheal tube to help him breathe as a nurse set up IV lines to administer fluids and medication.
"Careful with the glass shards," one surgeon said as they began the delicate task of removing the pieces embedded in his back. Blood pooled beneath him as suction devices whirred to clear the surgical site.
Meanwhile, in Abhira's operating room, the scene was equally intense. Her burns required immediate attention to prevent infection. A burn specialist meticulously cleaned her wounds, while a neurosurgeon assessed the extent of her head injury.
"She's lost a lot of blood," a nurse reported. "Hemoglobin levels are critical."
"Start a transfusion," the lead surgeon ordered. "We need to control the bleeding in her scalp and monitor for intracranial pressure."
Aryan paced the corridor, his hands clenched into fists. Rudransh sat on a bench, his head buried in his hands, while Aliya leaned against the wall, silently crying.
"Why did this happen?" Aryan muttered angrily. "Why couldn't I protect him?"
Manish stood at a distance, his face pale as he prayed under his breath. "Abhira beti... please come back to us. Please."
Just then, a nurse emerged from the OR. "The surgeries will take hours," she informed them. "Both patients inhaled significant smoke, which has caused respiratory complications. We've started treatments to clear their lungs and stabilize their vitals, but it's critical."
Aryan collapsed into the chair, his body giving way to the weight of the emotional turmoil. His hand trembled as he wiped his forehead, feeling a cold sweat trickle down his spine.
" I have failed him , i failed as a father", Aryan cried
Rudransh and Aliya heart was broked upon seeing their father crying for the first time
Aliya and rudransh reached near him to pacify him
"When he was kid he used to cling to me and he used to run towards me and hug me tightly when ever I came from my office to home . And he used to not eat his food till I came to home . But I never acknowledged him
I never showed him my love, i never told him how much he means to me .
I used to be busy in my duty whenever he came to me and I never supported him . I pushed him to a level that he stopped me to call papa", Aryan cried, burring his face in his hands
"All these years, I built a wall between us, convinced myself that I was doing the right thing by keeping him at arm's length. But now... now I see how wrong I was. He's my blood, my son, and I've spent more time fighting with him than loving him."
Rudransh's expression softened, and he placed a reassuring hand on Aryan's shoulder. "It's not too late, pap Rajveer knows you care, even if you've never said it outright. He feels it."
Aryan shook his head, tears streaming down his face. "no he don't. I've been so harsh, so distant. And now... now I'm scared I'll lose him before I can tell him how much he means to me. The bridge between us-it's fading, Rudransh. I can feel it slipping away, and I... I can't let that happen."
Rudransh stood, pulling Aryan to his feet. "Then don't let it. When Rajveer comes out of that room, you tell him everything. Tell him how proud you are, how much you love him. Let go of the past, papa. He needs you now more than ever."
Aryan nodded and Aliya hugged Aryan
And then preeta and riya , dadisa came and riya was cardling kiaan
Preeta rushed into the room, her breaths sharp and ragged as She could see the tension in the air, the silence that hung heavily in the room.
Her eyes darted between the men, the look of worry etched deeply on her face. "How are Rajveer and Abhira?" she asked urgently, her voice trembling with fear, as though she already knew the answer.
The room remained still. Aryan, his face buried in his hands, his shoulders trembling, didn't respond immediately
Preeta's breath caught in her chest. The lack of an answer, the anguish in the air, told her everything she needed to know. The world around her blurred. She stumbled back, her body shaking violently as the pain of the truth seeped in. Tears welled up in her eyes, and she reached out to grab hold of Aryan's arm, her nails digging into his skin.
"Please, tell me they're going to be okay. Please..." Her voice broke as the words escaped her mouth, the desperation evident in her tone.
But Aryan didn't speak. The tearful look in his eyes was enough. Preeta's knees buckled beneath her as the grief finally overwhelmed her. She collapsed into a heap on the ground, her cries raw and guttural, a sound of a mother losing her child, a woman torn apart by the cruel hand of fate.
She screamed, her voice full of anguish. "I've always waited for that moment! I've been waiting all my life... for him to call me mother, just once... To hear it from his mouth... just once!" Preeta's sobs were uncontrollable, her entire body shaking as she held onto her chest
"And abhira, she is too young and how came kian be without his mother ", she cried
Aryan, his own heart shattering, bent down beside her, tears streaming down his face. He reached out to comfort her, and hugged her tightly
Aliya came and hugged her parents "Mumma papa, nothing will happen to rajveer Bhaiya and abhira bhabhi", she pacified them
Manish and Swarna rushed in the hospital
"Aryanji how is Abhira and rajveer?", Manish asked , his voice trembling
"They are in operation, uncle", Aryan said , his voice barely audible
And it was mini heart attack to Manish and Swarna started to pray for rajveer and abhira
Meanwhile Kiaan was crying loudly In riya arms and Riya cradled him
"Don't cry kiuu , your Mumma papa will be fine", he cried, fighting with her own grief
She started to feed him with his milk bottle and kiaan cries subsidized
After hours, The sound of the operating room door opening interrupted the moment, and the doctors came out, their faces solemn.
Preeta stood up immediately, her hands trembling as she took a step forward. "How are they? Please... please tell me they're okay." Her voice was a whisper, as if she feared speaking the words aloud would make it worst
A nurse came out, her head dropped down
"I'm sorry," the nurse's voice trembled, but there was no mistaking the gravity in her words. "your son... and your daughter-in-law are no more . Doctors did everything they could, but... the injuries were too severe. In a few minutes, we will be handing over their bodies to you."
Preeta's heart, already fragile from the onslaught of emotions, shattered. Her breath hitched in her throat, and for a long moment, It was as if her mind was refusing to accept them, as though the very idea that Rajveer and Abhira were gone was impossible.
Her knees buckled beneath her, and she would have fallen to the ground if Aryan hadn't reached out in time to steady her. His own face had drained of color, his features frozen in shock, as if he, too, couldn't understand what he was hearing.
"No... no," Preeta whispered in disbelief, her voice cracking with agony. "It... can't be... they... can't be..." She gasped for air as the words barely made sense, her chest tightening as the pain of the reality began to sink in. "They can't be gone... Rajveer... Abhira... my children... my son..." Her body trembled as she clutched at Aryan's chest, her sobs wracking her body.
